We invite you to join us in the Land of Saints “Morocco” to integrate harmony, healing and peace in your lives in the way of the Saints. In your journey in Morocco you will insha Allah benefit from the direct transmission while visiting the maqam of the Awliyas. The companions of the Prophet SAWS were considered the giants of the greats thanks to receiving direct transmission from him SAWS. We will visit Jabal Al Alam the maqam of Moulay Abdessalam Ibn Mashish the Holy site where Sidi Abul Hassan Ashadhulli received training from his guide. We will also visit the sites of other Awliyas and discover the natural beauty of Morocco. In this unique journey you will be accompanied by spiritual teacher and healer Anis Lahlou and co-hosted by Tracey “Halwa” Panuschka.

Necessities
What to know
- Weather will likely be on the warm side and possibly cooler in Ibn Mashish (think layers)
- Not too much English is spoken in the old part of the city. Know how to drop a pin on your phone to mark the location of the accommodations so you can find your way back even without English
- Look into short term phone solutions that will allow for communication if you plan to walk or sightsee without the group. Check with your phone carrier if you have international free roaming plans; if it is a high daily rate you can get for about 10 dollars a local SIM card
- Not all of the comforts of home are readily available there. Think about what you can’t live without so that we can let you know if it’s available there, or if you should plan to bring it from home. Power outlets in Morocco are 220 volts and you will be provided with a plug adapter. If your electrical items are dual voltage 110–220 that is all you will need. If it’s only 110 volts you will additionally need a voltage converter
- We will stop at a grocery store very early on for you to get general necessities
- Meals, lodging accommodations and retreat transportation are included. Special items like RedBull, Kombucha, etc. are not
- Ibn Mashish is at higher altitude but bearable in case you are sensitive (4600 ft. of elevation)
- Practice eating/serving and taking food only with your right hand since taking food with the left is a no-no
What to bring
- A personal towel and washcloth where it is not provided like in Ibn Mashish
- Modest clothing (for women) plan to cover the wrist and ankles in loose fitting clothes and a scarf as they are needed to enter mosques and shrines. A loose fitting jalaba is handy and can be purchased rather inexpensively there
- Small and inconspicuous travel bag to carry money and a copy of your passport and plan to have it with you wherever we go
- Favorite pillow if it’s critical, earplugs, indoor plastic slippers to make wudu/socks. Light weight collapsible stool with shoulder straps to carry to mosque or when needed for rest
- Flexibility and good naturedness
Recommended Items
Below you will find examples of what we have found handy in the past. There is no commission of any kind, and you may have everything at home already - this is just intended to support packing efforts.
All-in-One prayer covering for women (to be worn with long pants)
This is used when the top is too short to cover the bottom for women.

It’s also helpful to have plastic shoes for after wudu in the clean space when we’re out traveling… Here are 2 examples:
https://a.co/d/0bExhdg4 (were rather flimsy, but handy because they can travel completely flat.) Or https://a.co/d/0gj29X16Backpack option
A lightweight, compact backpack that can hold your shoes for wudu, perhaps a small stool, and for women, your covering/hijab. Here’s an example of what Anis purchased for himself.
